Hello Westfields Parents and Students!
The '08-'09 school year is off to a fantastic start. We continue to revel in the pleasure that your children bring to us. Their spontaneity and the sheer joy with which they approach their lives keep our spirits alive and our hearts warm. We are truly grateful for our students at Westfields.
As always, this year will be a blend of the tried and true (no major changes in sight for this year) and the new.
*We have several new staff in a variety of positions.
*A new CAIM curriculum with Reinforced and Enhanced Math for Grade 10 rolls out this year.
*We added Frisbee as part of the school's sports program in the Physical Education curriculum.
*The school staff will focus on developing our practices and tools for standards based progress reporting and providing interventions (Dual Intervention Program) for students who are struggling in school.
*We organized additional soccer teams that will compete in the Alaska Cup such as the 6 under boys and girls group and the 8 under boys group.
*We continue to gain local and international recognition in sports with Nolan Johnson (Grade 10) bringing home a medal from Gothia Cup, a soccer competition held in Europe, Maika Tampoco (Grade 7) who just recently arrived from international tennis training from Australia, Han Jun Kim ( Grade 8 ) who qualified as professional golfer, and the following students who brought the bacon from the concluded Milo Olympics in Lingayen, Pangasinan: Karla de Jesus, Rhia Stawicki, Lauren Diano (Grade 10 ) and Angela Pineda (Grade 9); Jay Manansala (Grade 10), bronze medalists in tennis competition and silver medalist in shot put competition; Monica Mapua (Grade 4), silver and gold medalists in swimming competition.
* Additionally, this year we look forward to having the new high school building done.
These and other new efforts will complement our quality teaching staff and successful learning practices.
We continue to work in improving WIS to make it the best school in the Philippines and in the world. Our goal is to help each child find his/her passion and develop systems so that each student will be successful.
As always, we appreciate your support.
