What Makes Westfields Stand Out?

In 2006, we were awarded the Best International School in Pampanga, and we have lived up to that name ever since. 2009-2010 has become another flourishing school year for us as we successfully accomplished our goal of making Westfields one of the finest and the happiest learning places in the Philippines.

Since Westfields started in 1998, our population has consistently increased, and learners who leave school for a while keep coming back, a proof that Westfields education and culture are indeed sought-after. Because of this, we continue to expand our realm by having a new high school building constructed and having part of the grade school edifice renovated.

Our curriculum follows closely the scope and sequence of a full range of Singapore-Math curriculum. We have joined a growing list of countries using Singapore Math, which has gained worldwide recognition when Singapore was ranked first among 38 nations in the 1995 and 1999 International Mathematics and Science Study. Most of our learners have excelled in Math with this curriculum.

 --

Westfields has pioneered an extensive ESL (English as a Second Language) Program for the diverse needs of our learners who have limited English proficiency levels using alternative approaches that proved to be effective and enjoyable to our ESL learners. Later we also opened Adult ESL, Short Term English Program or STEP and Learning English for Academic Purposes or LEAP.

--

We have also included IPSLE (International Primary Schools Leaving Examination) in our program to help us determine how globally competitive our learners are. Furthermore, IPSLE will be a means of evaluating the school in terms of international standard, so that parents are rest assured that their children get the best education here at Westfields. IPSLE, which is developed, administered and managed by Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB), is taken by our students at the end of Primary 6. The IPSLE results may be used to apply for admission to Singapore schools and other International Schools abroad.

--

As early as kindergarten, we are already preparing our learners in making their career choices in the future. The Guidance and Counseling Center is extending its Career Program from early childhood to high school this school year.

--

Because Westfields gives both quality education and the training necessary to produce confident and insightful individuals, most of our graduates this school year have passed the entrance exams in top rated universities in the Philippines like Ateneo De Manila University, Centro Escolar University, De La Salle University and University of Sto. Tomas.

What makes Westfields truly stand out is its ardent effort to bring out the best in every learner not oly in the academics, but as well as in the other aspects of the multiple intelligences. For instance, Westfields has opened more doors for various sports activities besides the competitions that we annually join like: ACAAA, Alaska Cup, Don Bosco Cup, Xavier Cup, La Union Agoo Football Tournament, De La Salle Zobel Football Fiesta, PMA Football Cup and Off Football Cup in Alabang. Our soccer athletes have joined a number of goodwill games with schools such as Del La Salle Zobel, Brent International School, Chevalier and PAC (Philippine Agricultural College). The first Johnson's Cup, spearheaded by Nolan Johnson, and was held in November 2008. It was a successful event with several schools participating. Nolan also represented our school in the Gothia Cup in Europe. He was in Denmark, Spain and Sweden for the Gothia Cup with Christopher Bennett, Aaron Pineda and Anika Johnson.
